According to the The Little Mermaid, 'life is the bubbles' under the sea. If only WildTangent's was the bubbles. Instead, this would-be Pokemon Snap is a half-realized underwater picture show lacking in educational value and entertainment. Other than that, two thumbs up!You play as a budding marine photographer. Your job is to take a small sub into the waters of five locales and photograph the local sea life.
The controls are simple - left trigger zooms, right trigger takes pictures and the B button throws objects at innocent creatures. Your travels underwater are on rails, so you can focus on catching sea life at its wackiest. To get the sea critters to 'show personality' you need to throw things at them. Normally, you wouldn't want to antagonize a shark by tossing a glow stick or metal ball at its head, but in, it's the only way to score quality photos. Chuck your unlimited supply of items at animals to get them to react.
Instead of being pissed off, they show their cutest Disney-ready face. 'Thanks for hitting me in the eye with a flare,' a joyous turtle seems to express with his smile. What a horrifying idea - throw crap at animals to make them turn cute. Seems like a good lesson for our children.
