Is there a downside to building too many houses? Ask Question Asked 8 years ago. Buildings of various types will need to be constructed to provide them with their 'intangible' needs, and production chains will have to be large enough to meet their need for goods and food. In Anno 1404, is there any way to automate swapping resources.
I hereby present my own calculator, designed to make playing Anno 1404 and Anno 1404 - Venice more enjoyable. Please let me know what you think of it!What does it do?Calculates how many inhabitants of each level you will eventually end up with, given how many houses you've built.Calculates how many houses you'll need to build to reach a given number of Noblemen/Envoys. Also lists how many inhabitants of each level that'll give you.Includes automatic beggar count calculation! Assumes you'll let all beggars into your city, build hospices for them, and feed them.Compatible with the. Inhabitant counts can easily be exported to it.Determines how many production chains you'll need to satisfy your population, including the number of raw material suppliers.Supports production-boosting items. 25% per item, maximum of 3 items per island./listWhat does it not do? (These may be added later if there is demand for it.)Let you manually adjust the numbers inhabitants.Limit advancement to a certain level (e.g.
100 houses, but don't advance to Patricians).Fancy memorizing/comparing things. If you close the page, you start over.Items boosting production of intermediate items are not supported (e.g. +25% productivity on paper mill)./listHow does it work?It uses the game's mechanics as described, and, and uses those to instantly determine how many people you will get and what you'll require to satisfy them. This allows you to skip the tedious trial & error-based finetuning process and skip to an optimal supply system. Very nicely done indeed. I like the houses calculation, like how many you need to get to so many nobles.
I don't have that in my own calculator (, looks best in FF), which only calculates needs and shows info on peoples, buildings, goods and production chains. Mine is also in no way adjusted for Venice, since I haven't got that expansion.I love to see tools like these. I hope you enjoyed building it.
I know I enjoyed making mine.I see you don't remember anything. I only remember stuff when you are logged in. I remember the amount of each type of inhabitant.Keep up the good work!
An excellent tool, I've been using it for a while (though I hadn't seen your latest addition of the 'Consumption' section, that's really nice). One addition I'd like to suggest, if I may. As well all know, it really isn't practical to build an occidental city without having at least a small oriental city to give you access to spices and quartz (for glass).Could I suggest that these are added in the requirements, so if (for instance) I say I want 1000 noblemen and no envoys, it still calculates that I will need 440 nomads? Clearly I can ignore this if I don't want it for some reason, but without this or the ability to manually change the numbers of people, the consumption section is incomplete. Thanks! Thanks for your enthousiastic response!I've stopped maintaining my calculator a year ago, so I'm afraid feature requests will not be taken up by me anymore. I'd be happy to help you or another enthousiast with the HTML/JavaScript/CSS though. If what you want is an offline version of Markus' calculator, then you should ask him for an offline version.
Perhaps you can install PHP on your machine and then run his calculator locally? As for the hosting of the calculator: I will move the calculator to my home webserver sometime soon. I'll be happy to grant access to anyone willing to maintain and/or expand the calculator. Originally posted by Yxklyx:I love these tools and have a question. The production numbers you get are for 'fully satisyfing' your population right? 100% in all needs?

So, when playing for say 5000 Nobles (Master Builder scenario) - the actual production you need is actually less because not all of them will need to be 'fully satisfied' at game end? Yes, that is correct. The numbers are for 100% satisfaction.
You can produce less and still have your population happy enough. How much less, that depends on the amount of people you have: the more, the closer to 100% your production will need to be.Of course, lower satisfaction means lower tax income.
